Recallify AT approved for DSA recommendation by Student Finance England

Recallify AT software is now approved by Student Finance England for recommendation through Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA). The Student Loans Company confirmed the successful product review on 6 October 2026. This means needs assessors can recommend Recallify AT where it meets an essential study need. We’re pleased to share this step in making Recallify accessible to students who need support with capturing information, remembering what they have learned and organising their studies.

The approval covers the software only, which we call Core AT on our website. Student Finance England still decides whether to fund it for each student, based on their assessed essential needs. Our student DSA route explains the next steps, and the education assessor toolkit brings together product information, demonstration resources and recommendation guidance.

The scope of Recallify AT’s DSA approval

The decision gives needs assessors a confirmed route to consider Recallify AT software within a Student Finance England DSA recommendation. Product approval and an individual funding decision are separate: the software must fulfil an essential need arising from the student’s studies and support requirements. An assessor’s recommendation does not itself guarantee that Student Finance England will approve funding.

The approval applies to students funded by Student Finance England. It does not establish approval by Student Awards Agency Scotland, Student Finance Wales or Student Finance Northern Ireland. The relevant funding body determines the route, rather than the location of a student’s university. Students using another funding body should check their own arrangements with their adviser or needs assessor.

Guided AT adds practitioner training and setup and is outside this software approval. The Personal subscription is also outside this approval. Where a recommendation or quote concerns the approved software, Core AT is the package to refer to. Our AT pricing and supply information explains the package distinction.

Supporting the tasks around learning

Recallify brings capture, revision and organisation into one place. Students can work with their own recordings, notes and study materials, turn information into summaries, and use quizzes to revisit what they have learned. Tasks and reminders help them keep track of actions alongside the material itself. The aim is to support the practical steps around learning, from keeping information together to returning to it later.

For example, a student might save material from a teaching session, review a summary afterwards and practise recalling the key points before the next class. Another might use reminders to return to notes or act on a task they have captured. These are examples to explore during an assessment or demonstration; the relevant question is which functions address that particular student’s study barriers.

Recallify is available on iOS, Android and the web. Assessors can consider how it fits the student’s existing devices, course requirements and study habits. Our education resources explain the functions and usage limits so that recommendations can refer to the actual product rather than a general description of a memory or study app.

The next step for students

If you are applying for DSA through Student Finance England, discuss the difficulties you face in studying with your needs assessor. Describe the tasks that are hard to manage and the support you already use. Recallify AT can now be considered where it meets an essential study need, alongside the other support relevant to your assessment.

If funding is awarded, follow the instructions in your entitlement letter and work with your allocated supplier to arrange the software. Buying a Personal subscription is not the DSA supply route. The official GOV.UK guidance explains assessment, entitlement letters and supply, including the instruction to wait until you have been assessed before buying equipment.

For a fuller explanation of the allowance and assessment process, our England DSA guide for students with ADHD covers that route. If you are funded through SAAS, our Scotland DSA guide explains the separate system. This announcement records the SFE product decision; those guides remain the place for broader funding information.

Resources for needs assessors and suppliers

If you are a needs assessor, university adviser or assistive technology professional, we can help you explore the software before considering a recommendation. The education toolkit includes the product guide and software recommendation wording. You can request an assessor demo account to look at the workflow and discuss its fit for the students you support.

For professional software quotes, use the enquiry form on the AT pricing page and select Core AT for a Student Finance England DSA enquiry. A quote provides product and commercial information; it does not confirm a student’s funding. Suppliers can contact us about software orders and activation support, while students should continue to follow their entitlement letter and allocated supplier.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us develop Recallify and bring it into education. We look forward to working with students, assessors and suppliers as this recommendation route becomes part of their support conversations.

Recallify is designed as an everyday support tool and is not a medical device. It does not provide diagnosis or clinical decision support, and is intended to complement, not replace, professional medical care.
